History

The Boothby family name has been involved in the road construction and stone business in the area for decades. Much of the stone you see on the buildings in Algonquin Park came from Boothby-operated quarries in the 1960s. In 1972 Borden Boothby Company Ltd. was created to serve the local area in road construction. Many of the local roads you drive were built or upgraded by this company. In fact, if you ski at Hidden Valley Ski Club, their steepest slope, “The Face” was created by our founder. Numerous golf courses and subdivisions in the area have been constructed by the company as well.

In the early 1990s Borden moved into the aggregate business as a complement to the road-building business and B.O.R. Aggregate was created. Since that time we have been serving local Townships, the District Municipality of Muskoka, County of Haliburton, Ministry of Transportation, Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry, as well as local property owners and contractors with high-quality materials.

From a small beginning of one screener, we now own and operate a fleet of screeners, crushing plant, trucks, and an assortment of heavy construction equipment including excavators, bulldozers and loaders in a range of sizes for various applications from material processing to road and driveway construction. Materials may be picked up or delivered to your location with our fleet of trucks ranging in size from triaxles capable of carrying up to 24 tons, to end-dump trailers or hopper/spreaders hauling up to 33 tons per load. Smaller loads can, of course, also be arranged. We regularly deliver material to the GTA as well as locally.

Since Borden’s passing in 2014, his wife Lori who had been a partner in B.O.R. from the beginning continues to operate the business in conjunction with his brother Chuck, who is well-versed in all aspects of the business as he has a vast array of experience in various aspects of the operation. We would welcome the opportunity to work with you on your next project or assist you with any questions you may have.
